No, really. I {do,don't} care.
For those (few!) of you who used to follow me on the Embedded Theologian ... I've imported those posts to Substack.
"Holy cow! Sam... WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!?"
Because I don't care.
Or - rather - I do care.
If anyone wants to see my development as a human being, going from point A to point B, it's there. I think we have way too much motivation to pretend that development doesn’t exist. That we were born at this moment, currently wise. Believing exactly what we believe now, and that there was not process of growth at all.
Which is garbage.
You and I, we’ve both grown. We started at one point, learned some new things, and ended up at a different point. We’ve refined our views of ourselves, out families, and our communities as times has gone by.
Honest truth? That's all of us.
We are, each and every one of us, changing every day. I've just made a conscious decision to show that to you instead of pretending I've always been as wise as I am today.
I expect in 20 years I will look back on my current beliefs and consider them naive.
I hope that you will show Sam at age 50 some grace, since he's a (relative) youngster.
Please show Sam at age 30 the same grace, OK?
We all change over time. Don’t look down upon the people you meet now just because they were you in years past.
They will catch up to you… and do it much more quickly, if you lend them a hand.
