Earlier this year, I wrote a post about Lessons from LibertyCon. One of the things that I talked about there was being more deliberate with my writing, editing, and reading. I’ve been trying to post daily updates on that on Facebook, and it seems to be working out well enough.
I’d actually been kicking around the idea of using Substack as a writer’s blog. The problem there is that my posts up to this point have been all over the map. Slice of life, a lot of politics, and a bit of writing. It didn’t feel right to turn my Substack into a writing blog, and I didn’t want to deal with the issue of managing multiple Substack accounts to handle different audiences.
Then last week, I found out that Substack now supports Sections - the ability to have different, related newsletters under one account.
Problem solved!
So along with “Political Perceptions”, I now have “Writing Perceptions”. I’m going to use this section of my Substack for talking about my fiction writing projects. What I’ve learned, walkthroughs, reviews, snippets and samples, you name it. If it’s related to writing, it’s going to end up here.
So if you’re seeing this, you’re subscribed! If you’d rather not be, now worries. I understand. Go ahead and smash that unsubscribe button. If you do stick around, though, I’m hoping that you’ll be able to get some insight into what it’s like to be an amateur teller of tales. There’s more than meets the eye.
Finally - I am going to do my best to try and produce more content for both sides of this blog-slash-newsletter in the coming months. That’s me being a little bit weasely, of course :) I committed to writing every day, but I didn’t say what I would be writing. So ranting about politics on the other side of my Substack totally counts.
On top of that, I’ve got a couple of small projects in the works (short stories and the like) that I’ll be talking about in the near future. There are also some longer, novella or novel-length things I’d like to talk about and worth through here.
So stay tuned! And if you’re an aspiring writer yourself - let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see here!
