I woke up this morning to find out that Postcards from Mars is now available!
This collection originated at MarsCon 2023 with a simple challenge from the Three Moms of the Apocalypse: given an illustration from Cedar Sanderson, come up with a 50-word story about it. Something just long enough to fit on a postcard.
Telling a story in 50 words or less is difficult. The real challenge, though, was using those words in a way that reflected & incorporated the provided illustration. Taking words & images and making them into something more than the sum of their parts. So each one of these stories is really a collaboration between Cedar and an author her artwork inspired.
I’m really proud to be a part of this one. It’s got special meaning for me, as Cedar did the cover art for the first collection I appeared in (Supernatural Streets). She’s a fantastic artist, and it’s great to have been able to work with her again in this way!
