Completely lost track of the time this week. So you get my mid-week end of week report to you that covers the three major commitments I’ve made: to write, to edit, and to read.

Writing
Back in the saddle, one way or another! 5000 words sketching out a couple of short stories. Nothing huge, but I am noticing that my thinking about these is different, now. Less fumbling and more “Who is this person, what’s their problem, and how am I going to tell the story of how they solve it, or not.” Finishing is still hard - sit down and write, yo - and I have to figure out how to tell the same story in about 50% of the words I want to use, but that’s what practice is for.
Editing
I reviewed a good story from one of the folks in my writer’s group. I think I learn something new every time I do a critique. Unexpected benefits! :) I also have a non-fiction piece that my wife & I will be looking over now that she’s (a) feeling better and (b) home from a trip out of state.
Reading
Still in Dragonesque.
Other
As mentioned - my wife was out of town, which left me bopping around by myself for a few days. I never do well with that. Fortunately, my two youngest were home for the holiday weekend and were able to keep me company through Monday evening. Now that we’re both home - and the girls aren’t - we’re going to have to figure out what our new rhythms are.

Yay! for new routines!
