Liberty Fae Occupation Space Marine Robosoldier Cars ACTIVATE!

April’s kicked the bucket. Shuffled off the mortal coil. Run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible! In other words - it’s done. So let’s take a look at a few things #TeamAndMore related that happened this past month.

Let’s start off with Raconteur Press, who have two new releases. Get used to seeing their name here, because they are planning to release two anthologies each month in the coming year. Yep, you read that right - 24 titles are in the works. If you’re a new writer looking for a market, they are absolutely looking for stories!

First up is Space Marines 2.

“Marines. The first into battle and the fiercest warriors, either individually or as a unit. With a long tradition of fighting aboard ships and on land, their tactics might change when those ships go to space but their fortitude will not. Join 9 authors as they imagine what Marines will look like in the future, and how they'll take the battle to the stars.”

Following closely on the heels of the Marines is Single Servings of Liberty, the next installment in their Postcards series.

Twenty stories, short and sweet, each one with the image that inspired it. Bite-sized fiction that will tantalize and thrill you. Come, read a little, and see how it expands your dreams. 50 words, no more, no less. And the universe is at your command.

Cannon Publishing has released Tales from the Occupation, a Fae Wars anthology. While the names on the cover are enough to pique my interest, I’m going to be honest here - I would give this one a shot based on the cover alone. The premise of the anthology just seals the deal for me.

Wars end, enemies are defeated and territories are conquered and the combatants have to return to a life changed. America and the rest of humanity have fallen to the Fae, ancient mortal enemies of mankind. After building their strength for two thousand years, the Elves have claimed their vengeance and now rule Earth with an iron fist and dragon fire. Down but not out, a human resistance is building, but first daily life needs to be lived.

April seems to be a military month. Along with space marines and tales of a Fae-occupied Earth, Baen brings us Robosoldiers: Thank You for Your Servos, new stories of augmented soldiers and the future of warfare.

Near future, hard science fiction, and imagined military robotics and artificial intelligence in all domains of warfare (land, sea, air, space, and cyber) over the next fifty years as only Baen can do it.

Finally, screaming around the bend and barreling toward the finish line, we have a Car Wars anthology from Three Ravens Publishing. Yes, that Car Wars. Three Ravens is working with Steve Jackson Games to produce fiction ties ins to the latest release of the Car Wars game (6th edition).

As part of their “Car Warriors: The Autoduel Chronicles” Kickstarter, they announced:

Do you like shorter, bite-sized stories over full-blown novels? Then you'll want to tell your friends to back this Kickstarter. Once we reach the $1,000 mark, we will greenlight the first official Car Warriors short story anthology and make it available as an add-on option.

Seeing as the Kickstarter has already passed that mark, I’m guessing that there’s an anthology filled with screaming rockets and twisted metal in the works!
