Congratulations & Well Wishes!

May’s officially in the bag, so let’s take a look at a few things #TeamAndMore related that happened (or are going to happen very, very soon…)

Let’s start off with Raconteur Press, who have one two three new releases…

Falcons of Malta is the fourth book in the Malta series. They may say it’s “final”, but… well. These things are like potato chips - you can always have one more, right?

Falcons of Malta is the final (editor: really?) Malta Anthology from Raconteur Press and it holds a little bit of everything; Ghosts, Heroes, History, Pirates, Crusaders, Fantasy, Magic and a possible glimpse of the future.

Then they have two new books in the Postcards series: Fanta-Fly Postcards and Postcards from Foolz. The Raconteur folks do these challenges in conjunction with various SF/Fantasy conventions. Authors are given an illustration and challenged to write a story of exactly 50 words based on it. It is indeed a challenge, and its amazing how much you can say in those few words! As they say…

The time to write is now. The time available to write is also now, and that’s a bit limiting if you only think in terms of a novel at a hundred thousand words or more. Because you don’t need that many words, or that much time, to tell a story.

The next Postcards challenge will be coming up in a few weeks, in conjunction with LibertyCon the weekend of June 24th. Oh, and LawDog will be a guest of honor at P-Con in September. So I’m guessing there' will be a challenge associated with that event as well. Like and follow their Facebook page to make sure you don’t miss any of their announcements or anthology calls!

While at Fantasci in North Carolina, The Three Moms of the Apocalypse issued a challenge. Let your imagination soar and tell a story in exactly 50 words.

The rules of the game were simple: one image. Fifty words. Twenty authors met the challenge and excelled, and this volume records their efforts. Between these covers are complete stories that will take a moment to read, and ages to forget.

Next up, Chris Kennedy Publishing has put out the eARC for The Phoenix Initiative: First Missions. It looks like general availability is later this month, but I’m going to list it here because I am really excited about it. There are a couple of first-time authors and a host of #TeamAndMore folks with stories in this collection. So if Mil-SF is your thing, check out “In the Black” by Charli Cox, “Safari” by Dan Bridgwater, “Sub Rosa Infiltration Company” by John M. Olsen, and “Training Mission” by Kim Schoeffel.

Let’s round things out with a new eARC from Baen. They're Here!, an anthology of stories about the aliens among us. Don’t let the big names on the cover fool you - take a look down there at the bottom. Yep, even the big dogs sometimes end up on #TeamAndMore, and we love ‘em for it.

To sum up the Fermi Paradox, if the billions of stars in our galaxy have planets with intelligent life on them, why hasn’t anyone visited us? But maybe they have, and we just haven’t noticed—and that’s the way they want it.
