My mid-week report to you that covers the three major commitments I’ve made: to write, to edit, and to read.

Writing
The end of August has continued to kick my butt. In particular, the Day Job has been taking up a lot of time and brainpower. That makes it hard to walk, which - honestly - leaves me feeling crappy at the end of the day. I want to write, but I’m physically drained and mentally exhausted. Yes, I know, it’s odd that exercise makes me tired, but leaves me energized. That’s the way the world crumbles, or something. I know that once I get over the motivational hump and sit down, the words will come; I just need to remind myself of that.
I did manage to get a few thousand words written this week on a humorous short, though not nearly as many as I would like to. This week, I intend to dive back into things, one way or another. Finish up the outline for An Understanding, review my editorial feedback for Sigils, and work on a few short stories that I want to polish up and send out to various calls.
Editing
Nothing this week (see: aforementioned kicking of my posterior).
Reading
Still in Dragonesque.
Other
After last week’s chaos, both Shari & I have ended up feeling bleah (her more than me). So layer a virus on top of feeling out-of-sorts with the girls gone. I had some board training for a non-profit and an unexpected funeral. Oh, and my wife’s birthday! She was already starting to feel poorly, though, so we just had takeout sushi. We’ll celebrate more formally later :)
Alongside all that, there was a major issue at work. As in, “the build for this Very Important Software is broken. Fix it.” Small consolation: it wasn’t directly my problem, per se. (It was DNS. It is always DNS.) Unfortunately, I had tried to address this situation previously, and only been partially successful, so the fixing of the thing fell to me.
If you’re the last person to touch it, you’re the one responsible, after all…
Anyways. The external networking issue resolved itself, which reduced the urgency of the thing, but I still had a Very Important Problem to fix. I finally confirmed that the bits I am directly interested in fixing are done this morning. Now, I can go on to making sure I didn’t inadvertently screw something else up.
So: walking, reading, writing, editing. Going to push myself to do all that this coming week and make my life better!

wait for the new DNS revision and fix it again. The cycle of life.
