My mid-week report to you that covers the three major commitments I’ve made: to write, to edit, and to read.
Writing
About two thousand words last week on Sigils, working up a completely new version of a scene. I’m giving my female MC some much-needed agency and… I am not sure how it’s going to work out. So even though I’ve been writing, I’ve somehow managed to still have 16+ scenes that need to be written. And I still haven’t gotten to those other two big scene rewrites I need to work on :(
Commitments for this week:
Rewrite those last two dang scenes for Sigils
Start filling in the gaps with the other scenes
Editing
I’ve been chipping away at some of my “TODO” items for Sigils. I’ve got around 11 scenes left that need some major love (including the above two “complete rewrite” scenes). I’m still very much ahead of schedule, thankfully.
Commitments for this week:
Keep to my established editing schedule
Keep revising those regexes
Reading
Finished the first Space Cowboys collection and left a review on Amazon. I’ll be finishing Space Cowboys 2: Electric Rodeo tonight. I’ll have to review the Pile of Perpetual Reading to see what I want to queue up after that.
Unfortunately, I found out that Amazon thinks that authors reviewing their own work is no bueno. I can’t leave a review of SC2 on Amazon, unfortunately. So instead, I think I will write up a blog post for Friday! Stay tuned :)
There have been a couple of new stories posted in the writer’s group; I’m going to review them tomorrow evening and see where I can contribute.

While I may still be in limbo with the Day Job, others are not… and they are moving on to new teams. This means that we’ve started doing some knowledge transfer meetings. Stack those on top of code reviews and a day of training, and what do you get? A day with close to a dozen meetings (no - really). So they’re managing to keep me busy there, at least!
Which is why I’m taking a night off to relax and enjoy finishing SC2. As Gary Larson once said - “May I be excused? My brain is full.”
